The Collected Writings of…
Cheboygan Historian Audrey Casari
The stories that follow have been researched and published by historian and author Audrey Casari, a longtime resident of the Cheboygan area.Preserving the history of Cheboygan County and its people for future generations is Audrey’s lifelong passion. She has devoted her life to chronicling the stories of local people and places as a gift to future historians and families. Many years ago, as a member of the Cheboygan County Historical Society with a talent for writing, she was asked to submit stories to the county’s paper of record, the Cheboygan Daily Tribune.Audrey’s columns focus on events, stories and people from hundreds of years ago to the present. She writes on topics both familiar and obscure. For the last few years, Audrey has been assisted by Gary Fralick. Fralick, an amateur historian, retired journalist, editor and professional communicator, is a volunteer who helps Audrey research interesting and never-told-before stories of old Cheboygan. The two have become great friends and colleagues. It is Audrey’s dream and hope this history will be a helpful and interesting resource for future students, historians, descendants of the residents of the area, and others interested in the Native Americans, settlers and all residents who have called Cheboygan “home.”
